philosophy

At Fitch Carpentry we create work that is not just a transaction—it’s a collaboration. I believe that well-built spaces can serve as gifts to future generations. Something that I have learned from my grandfather who was a carpenter and architect.

In my work I move away from building homes and furniture that lack vitality. I strive to build spaces where people can flourish for decades. Spaces where we can thrive and feel grounded.

Mission & Vision

Fitch Carpentry exists to create meaningful, lasting spaces—homes and furniture that foster awareness, connection, and growth. I want to help my community deepen its appreciation for the materials and environments that support us. My goal isn’t just to build beautiful things, but to build with intention—spaces that people care about, that evolve with them, and that honor the resources used in their making.

Core Values

Craft as Tradition

My approach to carpentry is rooted in family tradition—early memories of walking northern Indiana woods with my grandfather, learning to identify trees and respect the materials they provide.

Sustainability & Stewardship

I treat wood, stone, and even fossil fuels with gratitude and restraint. These are finite materials with histories and futures. Sustainability, to me, is about honoring both.

Quality Over Quantity

I’m not interested in quick-turn, low-quality work. I value longevity, thoughtful design, and materials that are used responsibly.
